Exhibition catalogue with colored squares layered to make the shape of Mississippi on a white surface.
The Prompt
The Mississippi Invitational is a biennial exhibition series hosted by the Mississippi Museum of Art. Organized with the help of a guest curator the Invitational exhibits the work of artists living and working across the state. Accompanying each exhibition is a catalog highlighting the selected artists produced by the Museum.
Spread of the catalogue showing the same colored squares introducing the artists.
The Design
The challenge of this project was to find visual harmony between the provided exhibition title design and each artist’s unique style to showcase a cohesive event. Using the Museum’s brand colors and a layering technique, I developed elements to tie each spread together while displaying the varied artist’s work and statements.
Spread of the catalogue displaying two large paintings and artist statement.
Spread of the catalogue displaying stills from video artworks and artist statement.
Spread of the catalogue displaying an essay by the curator and supplemental imagery.
Spread of the catalogue displaying four photographs and artist statement.
