The Prompt
Vulcan Park & Museum in Birmingham, AL wanted to refresh and restructure their membership program. This entailed simplifying levels of membership, promoting online giving, and creating a new printed brochure.

It was important for the new brochure to emphasize that Vulcan Park & Museum is more than just a historic site, is committed to standing as a symbol for Birmingham, and engages with all of their community. Key ideas to highlight were museum, historical center, and green space.

The Design
I designed the brochure committed to maintaining the Museum’s brand, while also bringing a fresh look. A color overlay has been used standard in branding, but they requested a fresh take on that idea for the new brochure. Photo selection was key in featuring the variety of membership.

Colors and type aligned with the existing brand. Memberships were displayed as growing tiers to help communicate compounded benefits. The color overlay was reintroduced as dynamic, angular shapes to lead the eye through the content and add visual interest.

Along with the print-ready brochure, supplemental graphics were provided for social media and digital needs. A unique call to action “Stand for Birmingham with Vulcan” as an individual .png was also provided for future in house membership needs the Museum may have.
